Peace Project

Shared Creative History
Collaboration Work

For this Collaboration Project, The idea that one of our group members came up with was to show how M.I.T is a peaceful place where people with different ethnicity's and religion can come together and be peaceful in a safe environment.

Peace Definition - Peace is a period of harmony between different social groups that is characterised by lack of violence or conflict behaviours, and the freedom from fear of violence.

For this project we were assigned a letter from the word PEACE and we had to design the letter with a skill we are good at in art. For me it was drawing because that was what i was best at. The others designed there letters with screen-printing, painting, tattooing, photography and collaging.

I feel at peace when i'm with my family. When i'm with them i feels as if nothing is gonna go wrong and we would always be safe no matter where we are at. Because Im the fourth oldest out of seven children I have to look after my siblings that are younger than me also listen to my elder siblings at the same time. Its like i have to make sure that they are safe and alright so that i know that in my mind, they would be in peace and all thats left is to make sure that i'm alright.

For me peace means that there isn't and violence or bad things that are happening and that u are having a good time. I usually feel at peace when i'm doing art because i don't get distracted by anything and my mind is constantly on art, trying my hardest to get better and better at drawing.
When I am doing art i just lose control of time and just start drawing for hours because nothing gets in my way and i enjoy doing art as much as playing on my ps4.When I am at peace doing my art, I think that i can make a lot of artworks because I wont have anything holding me back.

An Artist that I have been looking at is Niels Shoe Meulman. He is an Internationally known artist who was born and raised in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. He became a graffiti legend at the age of 18. He uses a art style called Calligraffiti which fuses Calligraphy and Graffiti.

Here are some of his works

I like how he mixes calligraphy with graffiti to make these art works. It makes the letterings stand out more and makes them have like that graffiti like effect on them that makes them look really good. I also like the drips and splash like effects that in the background which makes the letterings standout even more.

Another Artist that I have been looking at is El Seed. He also is an Calligraffiti artist. Unlike Niels Shoe Meulman he uses Arabic lettering in his works which also looks good.

Here's a video of El Seed

In this video El Seed talks about how street art can be for hope and peace around the world. After watching this I think that the reason people graffiti all over the place is because they wont want people to see a reflection of their reality and what they see through there eyes.

Here are some of his Artworks

I still find his artworks interesting even though they are in another language. I like how he uses his colours in his work and how it makes the letterings standout. I also like how each artworks looks different in a way but all have a similar style to it.
